A pond with a biofilter is a key part of the project and the client’s first design requirement. The house, incidentally built by the client himself for his parents, has a fairly large roof surface. There is no surface drainage on the property, and considerable rainwater spills onto the ground. The idea of draining into the pond, thereby achieving both functional and decorative goals, also came from the garden’s owner.
Area 0.4 ha. Year of creation 2018.
Private estate with bioplato.

To keep the water clean without having to spend time on weekly maintenance of the filtration equipment, a bioplateau was built.
This resulted in an interesting system.
Water from the roof flows through a gutter into a small stream, over which a bridge is built directly from the kitchen porch to the summer terrace. From the stream, water flows into the main pond through a cascade. The bioplateau, planted with higher plants such as iris and loosestrife, purifies the water, which in turn flows into the main pond.
To prevent heavy rainfall, when the pond's water level rises, a flood zone was created. It is planted with plants that can withstand heavy rainfall, primarily willows. There are many of them on the property, in various species and shapes — a favorite of the client's parents.
These photos were taken years after the plants were planted. The pond has remained crystal clear for several years now, beautifying the property and fulfilling its primary function.
